What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
On Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri visited Mama's Food Shop, a home-style takeout counter on East 3rd Street in Manhattan's East Village that served fried chicken, roasted pork shoulder, and banana cream pie made from seasonal, local ingredients. The Local East Village Blog on NYTimes.com reported on 2012-07-30 that owner Jeremiah Clancy closed the 15-year-old shop, citing rising rents and property taxes, and DNAinfo reported the closure the next day, 2012-07-31. Google Places' current listing for the East 3rd Street address also marks the business as permanently closed. Gothamist and EV Grieve both covered the closing at the time, and EV Grieve noted the shop had also briefly opened and then closed a second, Williamsburg outpost the previous year, after roughly fifteen years in the East Village.
