What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Mountain Shadows Restaurant for the 'East-West Flavorfest' episode, aired 2015-12-18. Guy Fieri featured the restaurant's giant cinnamon roll and its Rocky Mountain roast beef sandwich, according to Flavortown USA. Mountain Shadows was a family-run American restaurant with a full bar on West Colorado Avenue, run by Kasie Swain, who began there as a waitress in 1993 and purchased the business in 2010. On 2024-12-09, Swain posted a farewell message on the restaurant's own website announcing its permanent closure, citing the pandemic and other compounding difficulties.
Yahoo News reported on 2025-01-20 that the property had sold to new owners on 2025-01-17 who intended to reopen it and "keep it as original as possible," with Swain assisting the transition. A follow-up check of the restaurant's website on 2026-09-07 found only the closure notice still posted, with no reopening confirmed.
