The Old Coffeepot Restaurant was a French Quarter institution on St. Peter Street in New Orleans that had served Cajun and Creole classics for roughly 125 years by the time Gordon Ramsay visited for the second episode of the series, filmed in late 2017 and aired in June 2018. The show found a restaurant coasting on its history: dated decor, an oversized menu, and kitchen practices that had fallen behind the standards of the surrounding tourist district. Ramsay's team streamlined the menu around the kitchen's traditional strengths, refreshed the dining room, and worked with staff on service and food-safety habits before reopening the restaurant to customers within 24 hours.

The relaunch went well initially, but the turnaround did not hold: The Advocate reported the Old Coffeepot's closure in February 2019, less than a year after the episode aired, ending generations of ownership in the same family and building. The building itself, constructed in the early 1800s, was acquired by Cafe Beignet, a local chain with several other French Quarter locations, which spent months restoring the space's historic details, including preserving murals and displaying the original Old Coffeepot sign. Cafe Beignet's fifth location, branded "Cafe Beignet at the Old Coffee Pot," opened in August 2019 in time for that year's Jazz Fest, offering beignets alongside classic New Orleans dishes like calas. Cafe Beignet's own current locations page, last updated in September 2025, lists only five active cafes — Canal Street, Decatur Street, Bourbon Street, Royal Street, and the Sheraton — no longer including the St. Peter Street address, and Yelp's listing for "Cafe Beignet - St. Peter" independently marks the location permanently closed as of a September 2026 update, indicating that successor business has since closed as well.
