What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Season 1, Episode 12 Aired
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network) featured Rosie's Diner in Rockford, Michigan, in the July 2007 episode "American Cookin'." Wikipedia's July 2026 revision traces the dining car's history: it originally opened in the 1940s in Little Ferry, New Jersey, as the Silver Dollar Diner, was renamed Rosie's after appearing in Bounty paper-towel commercials featuring the fictional waitress Rosie, and was later moved to its Rockford, Michigan site next to a second diner, with a third diner car added from Fulton, New York. A Yelp listing updated in June 2026 marks Rosie's Diner as permanently closed. Local outlets WZZM13 and WOOD TV8 reported that the diner car was packed up and sold to a couple in Missouri after it stopped operating in Rockford.
Food Paradise, Season 1, Episode 8
The episode featured Rosie's Diner, a vintage stainless-steel diner car set up as a roadside attraction along US-131 in Rockford, Michigan, serving classic breakfast platters, burgers, and hand-dipped milkshakes inside a 1946 railcar-style dining car outfitted with a jukebox, neon signage, and counter seating. According to Wikipedia, the diner operated in Rockford from the 1990s alongside an antique mall on the same property, drawing travelers off the highway for its retro chrome exterior. According to WGRD, the diner closed in 2011 and the vacant building sat deteriorating on the property for years afterward. According to a Fox17 Grand Rapids Facebook post, new owner Dawn Perry purchased the diner car in October 2023 and announced plans to relocate the historic structure to central Missouri.
