What happened after Food Paradise?
Slab Real Dope BBQ & Beer appeared in the episode "BBQ Bragging Rights" (S12E3), which featured this Austin, Texas barbecue restaurant for a menu the operators describe as blending Memphis, Carolina, and Texas barbecue styles, including sandwiches, St. Louis-style ribs, and a rotating lineup of house sauces. The business began in 2006 as a food trailer on the University of Texas campus and moved into its first brick-and-mortar restaurant on Research Boulevard in North Austin in 2014, according to a 2018 Austinot.com profile of the restaurant. The restaurant was later known under the joint names SLAB BBQ & Beer and Real Dope BBQ.
According to Community Impact Newspaper (March 27, 2026), the North Austin location rebranded as Stack City BBQ in February 2026 with the same pitmaster, and the business's own website, stackcitybbq.com, and its Instagram account confirm the new name at the same address and with the same operator. As of September 9, 2026, business directories including Untappd and Nextdoor still listed the North Austin location as active and additionally showed a newer Cedar Park location. An older Foursquare check-in listing for the original food-trailer address is marked permanently closed, consistent with the 2014 move rather than an overall closure of the business.
