What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
"The Best Thing I Ever Ate" (episode "Appetizers") featured The Stanton Social's French onion soup dumplings, one of several small, shareable plates on chef Chris Santos' multi-ethnic tapas menu at this Lower East Side restaurant and lounge. The two-level space at 99 Stanton Street included a ground-floor dining room and a second-floor lounge, and operated for more than 15 years after opening in 2005. According to whatnow.com (2023-03-09), The Stanton Social closed in 2018, and the address was later occupied by Sae Ron, a Korean restaurant that a Yelp listing, updated July 2026, also marks as closed.
A commercial listing on LoopNet, viewed 2026-09, shows the same address currently available for lease. A Food Network restaurant database entry still carries a listing under a related name, Stanton Social Club, though the restaurant featured on the show closed in 2018.
