What happened after Food Paradise?
Steve's Snappin' Dogs showcased its snap-casing hot dogs and Chicago-style toppings from its original East Colfax Avenue storefront in Denver, a spot owner Steve Ballas opened in 2006 with his wife. The show captured the counter-service stand's loyal neighborhood following after nearly two decades on Colfax. According to Denverite, the Colfax location served its last day on October 19, 2024, with Ballas citing family health reasons for the decision. 9News and Denver Westword both reported the closure the same week. Denverite noted a second Steve's Snappin' Dogs location, at Denver International Airport, had opened about a decade before the Colfax closure and was expected to keep operating for at least another year or two afterward. A 2026-09-08 check of the airport location's page on stevessnappindogs.com carried a 2026 copyright notice and a current airport-specific menu, indicating the business continues under the same name at DEN.
