What happened after Food Paradise?
The episode featured Tacconelli's coal-fired-oven pizza, including the white clam pie the Somerset Street shop is best known for. According to the restaurant's own website, founder Giovanni Tacconelli emigrated from Italy to Philadelphia in 1918 and built the shop's original 20-foot-by-20-foot brick oven himself. The restaurant's own website has not been substantially updated since a 2019 modification date and lacks current-year markers, so a Yelp listing was checked instead. Yelp showed the original Somerset Street location with 446 reviews updated June 2026 and no permanently-closed marker, distinct from a same-named Rivers Casino Philadelphia satellite location, where a public listing updated 2026-06 marks it permanently closed. Those signals point to the original pizzeria continuing to operate under the Tacconelli family name.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
