The episode's New York segment featured Shorty Tang Noodles and the cold sesame noodles chef Yu Fa 'Shorty' Tang is credited with popularizing in American Chinese cooking after he opened Hwa Yuan Szechuan in Manhattan's Chinatown in 1967. NBC News reported on 2017-10-30 that Tang's son, Chen Lieh Tang, had just opened a shop called Shorty Tang Noodles on Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, at the address later geocoded for this record. A site check on 2026-09-08 found a different business, Beef Up Noodle 2, now operating at that Eighth Avenue address, with a current ordering website that makes no mention of Shorty Tang, Hwa Yuan, or cold sesame noodles history. Those two dated sources, nine years apart, mark the closure of Shorty Tang Noodles at this location.
