What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network) featured Zia Diner & Angel Food Catering in the episode "Homestyle," aired 2009-06-01, spotlighting the Santa Fe diner's Southwestern comfort cooking. Zia Diner operated for nearly 30 years from a storefront on South Guadalupe Street in Santa Fe's Railyard district before closing. The Santa Fe New Mexican reported on 2025-06-25 that the longtime diner had closed, examining whether the closure was permanent after nearly three decades in business. Yelp's listing for the South Guadalupe Street address carried a closed designation, with the page updated into June 2026.
A new restaurant, Cafe Sonder, has since taken over the same Guadalupe Street space, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican's coverage. Zia Diner's original episode had highlighted a restaurant built around scratch cooking and a full bakery and catering operation under the Angel Food Catering name.
