What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network) featured Sol Food Puerto Rican Cuisine in the episode "Go-To Joints," aired 2009-05-25, spotlighting the restaurant's Puerto Rican cooking and its colorful, plant-filled dining rooms. Sol Food opened in San Rafael and grew into a small Marin County group, now running dine-in, takeout, and delivery service from two adjoining Lincoln Avenue storefronts known as the Green Building and La Bodega. According to solfoodrestaurant.com, the San Rafael locations operated daily with hours starting as early as 8 a.m. for takeout, and the company had since added locations in Mill Valley and Petaluma.
The same site listed a dedicated phone line, PDF menus for each location, and a companion hot-sauce brand, Pique, sold under a separate site. Sol Food's online ordering ran through Toast as of 2026-09-08, and the restaurant continued to promote a Petaluma happy hour and a recurring half-price wine discount on Tuesdays.
