What happened after Food Paradise?
"Hamburger Paradise" featured Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, California, home to the chain's original double-decker hamburger. According to Wikipedia (revised 2026-08-23), Bob Wian opened the restaurant in Southern California in 1936 under the name Bob's Pantry and, about six months later, created the double-decker burger by slicing a bun into three pieces and adding two patties. Wikipedia reported that Wian began franchising in the 1940s under the "Bob's Big Boy" name for company-owned locations, that Marriott Corporation bought the chain in 1967, and that Marriott sold the Big Boy trademark to Michigan franchisee Elias Brothers in 1987 while keeping the Bob's Big Boy name for its own restaurants. A 2026-09-08 check of the restaurant's website, bobs.net, found the Burbank location's site still active, promoting history exhibits covering the building's architecture, a Beatles booth, and film shoots including "Heat," alongside current burger and milkshake menus.
