"Hamburger Paradise" featured The Spot, a natural-food restaurant in Hermosa Beach, California known for vegetarian and vegan dishes such as its veggie burger and house-made savory sauce. According to Easy Reader & Peninsula, The Spot opened in 1977 and was purchased by chefs Tonya and Maurice Beaudet in 1980, who ran it as an all-vegetarian kitchen serving whole grains, legumes, and homemade bread for more than four decades. Easy Reader & Peninsula reported that the restaurant served its last customers on 2023-02-06, and that the owners said the business had "been struggling since Covid began."
Yelp's listing for the 110 2nd Street address, updated 2026-09, still marks the business permanently closed. Google's business-listing data associated with a "The Spot" search instead points to an unrelated Claremont, California cafe of the same generic name, about 40 miles away.
