What happened after Kitchen Nightmares?

Firenze Restaurant & Pizzeria was a family-run Italian restaurant at 11028 E. 10 Mile Road in Warren, Michigan. Fox's episode clips describe it as a 60-year-old neighborhood institution, and Kitchen Nightmares Updates reported that when it closed, the restaurant posted an image on its website reading "July 10, 1964, to June 21, 2025." The restaurant was owned by Lou Dutton and his wife, Renee, according to Fox's clips and RealityTVRevisited's recap; Renee had once run day-to-day operations before leaving for another job. Lou's son Lewis served as kitchen manager, and his sisters worked in the kitchen and dining room alongside longtime staff.

The episode's synopsis describes "a family-run Italian institution facing years of leadership issues." As recapped by RealityTVRevisited, staff said business had fallen off from the days of lines around the block, and the episode reported more than $700,000 in losses since the owner took over. Jerome, a cook with more than 30 years of experience, said he resented answering to the less-experienced Lewis. Fox's clips show Ramsay receiving "lukewarm minestrone soup" and "rubbery shrimp fettuccine" and questioning why the kitchen served powdered mashed potatoes; in the recap, Lewis acknowledged he had never made mashed potatoes before.

Servers worked without table numbers, and Ramsay ended the dinner service early after a run of returned plates. In a sit-down Fox titled "No restaurant is worth that, Lou," Ramsay pressed the owner on the toll the business was taking on him and his family, and pushed Lewis to step up in the kitchen. For the relaunch, Ramsay's team updated the decor, lighting and layout, added new kitchen equipment and table numbers, and introduced a new Italian menu cooked from fresh ingredients. Fox's clips show Ramsay promoting Jerome to expo, directing the flow of plates out of the kitchen, and Lou taking responsibility in a speech to his staff.

Renee returned as a surprise guest on reopening night, and Lou said he could picture Firenze lasting many more years. The restaurant did not stay open long after filming. Kitchen Nightmares Updates reported that Firenze reopened after the makeover on June 10, 2025, and closed on June 21, 2025, less than two weeks later. RealityTVRevisited reported that the restaurant had posted online that it would reopen with a new menu but never did, that a closed sign went up on the door, and that long-running construction nearby had weighed on business in the area. Firenze has not reopened, and its episode aired on September 15, 2026, more than a year after its final service.
