What happened after Food Paradise?
The episode highlighted Hodad's signature bacon cheeseburger, built on a hand-formed patty and stacked with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, and served alongside onion rings in the restaurant's surf-shack dining room. Hodad's is a casual burger restaurant in San Diego's Ocean Beach neighborhood, decorated with license plates and surfboards collected from customers over the years. On 2026-09-08, the restaurant's website showed a working online ordering system, current menu and location pages, gift-card sales, and job postings for the Ocean Beach location. The site's own copy calls it the "Best American Restaurant in San Diego." Google Places also lists the business as operational at 5010 Newport Ave.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
