Best Thing I Ever Ate's 'Supreme Sweets' episode featured a dessert from Le Cirque, the formal French restaurant founded in 1974 by Sirio Maccioni. After stints at the Mayfair Regent Hotel and the Palace Hotel, Le Cirque relocated in 2006 to a 16,000-square-foot space in the Bloomberg Tower at 151 East 58th Street, designed by Adam Tihany. According to NY Eater (2017-03-27), Le Cirque had filed for bankruptcy while promising to stay open. Eater NY reported on 2019-08-19 that the restaurant had in fact closed its New York dining room on January 1, 2018, continuing afterward only with occasional private events on a chartered yacht. Yelp's listing for the 151 East 58th Street address, updated 2026-06, still marks Le Cirque permanently closed, while sister locations in Dubai and India remain open.
