Is Playoffs Sports Lounge Still Open? Bar Rescue Update

Playoffs Sports Lounge, as featured on Bar Rescue, is recorded in this project's batch data under Palm Desert, California, but the business's own address — in both Google Places and its website — places it at 12105 Palm Dr. in Desert Hot Springs, roughly 25 miles from Palm Desert; that discrepancy looks like a labeling error in the original batch rather than a relocation, since barrescueupdates.com's recap, published May 4, 2024, describes owner Eric Pontius as having bought the bar in 2003 at what its site now lists as the same Desert Hot Springs address. The bar appeared in Bar Rescue's "Losing the Playoffs" (aired 2024-04-21). Barrescueupdates.com reported that before the show intervened, the business had no point-of-sale system, bartenders kept tabs by hand, and drinks were poured inconsistently strong; Jon Taffer kept the Playoffs Sports Lounge name during the relaunch rather than changing it, a departure from most other episodes in the show, where the show gave the bar a new name entirely.

The recap described the business afterward in positive terms, noting a clean, comfortable, sports-themed atmosphere, with mostly positive reviews. Yelp's listing for the address, shown updated in August 2026, carries 99 photos and 109 reviews under the Playoffs Sports Lounge name. Checked directly on 2026-09-08, the business's own site, playoffssportslounge.com, loaded with posted hours — open until 2 a.m. on weekends and midnight on weeknights — and promotional copy inviting customers to book birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, and corporate gatherings, though the page's visible copyright text was not dated past 2024. Between the May 2024 recap, the current site's live hours, and the August 2026 Yelp listing, the Playoffs Sports Lounge name in Desert Hot Springs is documented across more than one independently dated source spanning over two years, with no closure, rename, or ownership-change signal found in our search.
