What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

On "To Bakersfield and Beyond" (aired 2015-04-24), Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited this East Bakersfield restaurant, spotlighting its family-style Basque dinner tradition, in which soup, salad, beans and a rotating entree are brought course by course to a shared table. According to the restaurant's own website, thepyreneescafe.com, the cafe traces its founding to 1901 at the same Sumner Street address it occupies today, and continues to operate as a full-service restaurant and bar. A Yelp listing updated in July 2026 shows the business still active with 353 reviews and a 3.7-star rating, and Tripadvisor separately lists the restaurant at a 4.5-star rating. The restaurant's own site lists current daily hours, including a shortened Tuesday dining schedule with the bar remaining open later, and references past press coverage including a San Francisco Chronicle feature.
