What happened after Food Paradise?
An S17E9 episode titled "Go Big or Go Hungry" featured Slab Sicilian Street Food, a Portland, Maine shop serving Sicilian-style square-cut pizza and frozen pies for retail. Bangor Daily News reported the restaurant was founded in 2014 by pizza maker Steven Lanzalotta and operated from a Preble Street storefront in Portland's Old Port. According to Bangor Daily News, dated 2024-10-07, the shop closed on October 12, 2024, citing changes in the surrounding restaurant scene and reduced foot traffic after a nearby building closure. WGME also reported the closure that same week.
Google Places, checked 2026-09-08, listed the business as permanently closed. The shop's website, checked 2026-09-08, still loaded but showed no 2026-dated content, only a 2021 reference in the page text, consistent with an inactive site. According to Bangor Daily News, Slab's frozen pizza remained available at retail stores after the storefront closed.
