What happened after Restaurant Stakeout?

"Restaurant Stakeout" season 5's "Unlucky in Vegas" (episode 4, aired June 25, 2014) sent host Willie Degel to Sonrisa Grill, a Mexican restaurant in the Lake Las Vegas development, an area that falls within Henderson, Nevada even though the episode credits it as Las Vegas. Food Network's episode description says owner Chanthy had borrowed more than $300,000 from relatives and split up her family to keep the restaurant going, and frames the staff's conduct as the reason the once-lively spot was struggling. As with other entries in the series, Wikipedia's article on Restaurant Stakeout notes that a 2012 realityblurred.com report concluded the show's scenarios are staged and scripted, not spontaneous.

The show's usual structure has Degel hiding cameras around the restaurant to document how the floor runs without an owner physically present, then confronting the owner with that footage and prescribing operational changes to staffing and service before declaring the business fixed. Current listings show Sonrisa Grill still operating at 30 Via Brianza; OpenTable's page for the restaurant, updated in 2026, lists current hours and reservation availability, and the restaurant maintains an active Facebook business page. Available sources have separately described Sonrisa Grill as a long-running destination restaurant in the Lake Las Vegas area.
