What happened after Food Paradise?

Food Paradise's episode "California Dreamin'" (S14E1) featured Surfrider Café, a brewery and burger restaurant at 429 Front Street in Santa Cruz, California. According to BeerAdvocate, the café brewed its own craft beer on-site and served natural Black Angus burgers, fish tacos, and other pub fare, and it opened in 2009 in a space that had previously housed a macrobiotic restaurant. Yelp's listing for Surfrider Café, updated in July 2026, lists the business as closed. The Google Places record pulled for this address in the original listing instead matched the Surfrider Foundation, an environmental nonprofit at a separate Santa Cruz address; that record does not describe this restaurant's status. No news article documenting a specific closing date could be located during this check, so the timing of the closure beyond the July 2026 Yelp update is not established.
