What happened after Bar Rescue?
Brix Wine Bar operated on Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach, California, an unincorporated coastal community within Huntington Beach, and was described heading into its Bar Rescue appearance as running at a significant loss with mounting debt. On the episode "Put a Cork in It" (aired 2015-08-09), host Jon Taffer worked with the ownership to address the bar's finances and concept, ultimately redesigning the space and renaming it Pacific Coast Wine Bar.
The new name did not last long at the location: within about three weeks of the relaunch, the owner removed the Pacific Coast Wine Bar signage and put the original Brix signs back up, continuing to operate as Brix Sunset Beach.
Brix Sunset Beach eventually closed. According to a March 2022 update from the fan-tracking site Bar Rescue Updates, a review of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control liquor-license records for the address showed the license had passed to a new holder, Suzanne Blevins, operating a new concept called Sunset Lounge Bottoms Up at the same Pacific Coast Highway storefront. Blevins is also listed as the owner of the Bottoms Up Bar & Grill chain, which includes multiple locations; the Sunset Beach location was described in that update as effectively an additional Bottoms Up-branded site. A Yelp listing for the original Brix Wine Bar name shows the business marked as permanently closed, with that listing's most recent update dated June 2026, consistent with a change in both ownership and operating name at the address.
Independent, dated confirmation that Sunset Lounge Bottoms Up is still operating as of this update could not be located beyond the 2022 liquor-license report and the associated social media pages identified at the time, so the current status is coded as new ownership on the strength of that 2022 record rather than a freshly confirmed live business.
