What happened after Hotel Impossible?

Hotel Impossible (Travel Channel) featured the Charles Inn in Bangor, Maine, in the episode 'Ex Marks The Spot,' which aired 2015-11-24 (S6E13). According to the Bangor Daily News, dated 2015-07-31, the inn's bar, the Big Easy Lounge, closed around the time of filming; the article reported that inn owner Connie Boivin said the closure was not driven by the show and that the bar's operator had already been planning to leave. The Bangor Daily News reported that filming continued at the inn despite the dispute.

The Charles Inn closed for renovations in early 2022 after Florida-based developers bought the building in December 2021, the Bangor Daily News reported. Google's listing for the address names the business The Phenix and shows it as operating. A site check of the address's associated website, soulstr.com, on 2026-09-09 found a live page with a 2026 copyright date describing Soul Str. as a short-term-rental operator with listings, hotel-management services, and a contact page, rather than a traditional inn. The building reopened in June 2023 as the Phenix Inn, a different hotel and short-term-rental hybrid that takes its bookings through Airbnb, according to the Bangor Daily News. Older Tripadvisor and Facebook pages for 'The Charles Inn' remain online but carry no 2026-dated content confirming the inn still operates.
