What the source shows: Re-checked 2026-09-21: Yelp and the business's likely domain were not reachable via automated tools today, but nothing found contradicts the prior determination that the Washington Ave location is under new ownership (Christopher Gonzalez, per Houston Chronicle) and operating after an April/mid-July 2026 reopening. What happened after Food Paradise?

Food Paradise's "Most Valuable Plates" episode (S18E3) featured Max's Wine Dive, a wine bar and restaurant on Washington Avenue in Houston known for pairing an extensive wine list with a casual bar menu. According to the Houston Chronicle, new owner Christopher Gonzalez acquired the Washington Avenue location around April 2026 and reopened it with a soft opening around July 15, 2026, aiming to restore the restaurant's earlier appeal. A Yelp business listing for the same 4720 Washington Ave address, updated September 2026, shows the location active with continuing photos and reviews and no closed marker, unlike a separate Max's Wine Dive location on Fairview Street that Yelp lists as closed.

A direct check of the business's own site, maxshtx.com, returned an HTTP 404 error, which appears tied to the recent ownership transition rather than a closure, since the Washington Avenue address remains listed as operating elsewhere. No official ownership record or additional news source was located to independently confirm the exact acquisition date.
