What happened after Food Paradise?

On Food Paradise's 'Chili Paradise' episode (2012), the Phoenix Saloon appeared for its sirloin chili, served over corn chips with a choice of toppings, alongside its burgers and live music. The saloon opened in 1871 in downtown New Braunfels and holds the distinction of being the first bar in Texas licensed to serve women. It occupies a two-story limestone building on West San Antonio Street near the town square. According to a Yelp listing updated in September 2026, the Phoenix Saloon lists hours of 11 a.m. to midnight (1 a.m. Saturdays) at 193 W San Antonio St, with a rating built on 251 reviews.

According to Tripadvisor's September 2026 rankings, it placed 51st among 238 New Braunfels restaurants, with reviewers citing the chili and burgers as favorites and some noting short staffing on busy nights. Live music, a saloon tradition, continues Thursday through Sunday, including a Thursday open-mic night.
