What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited this Kihei smokehouse for the 'Soakin' Up Maui' episode, aired 2016-07-01, which featured Fat Daddy's Texas-style smoked meats. Fat Daddy's Smokehouse served ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and smoked brats by the pound, as plates, or as sandwiches at 1913 S Kihei Rd, according to Maui Hawaii's restaurant directory. The Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives locations page for the address lists the business as permanently closed, with the page last confirmed 2025-09-13. Yelp's listing for the address is also marked permanently closed, with the page last updated 2026-08.

At our check on 2026-09-08, the restaurant's former web address, fatdaddysmaui.com, no longer referenced the business and instead displayed unrelated foreign-language content, consistent with the listings marking it closed. No dated news account of the closure or a specific closing date was found in the sources checked.
