What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

"Hot Meat and Cool Veg" featured M.E.A.T. Eatery and Tap Room, an Islamorada burger and craft-beer spot known for house-made sausage, smoked pulled pork, and condiments made in-house, paired with a rotating list of draft beers. The restaurant built a reputation for its burgers, later earning national "Best Burgers" recognition in multiple years. Yelp's listing for M.E.A.T. Eatery And Taproom at 88005 Overseas Highway was updated in July 2026, showing continued customer reviews and no indication the business had closed. Tripadvisor separately ranks the restaurant among the top ten dining spots in Islamorada, out of eighty listed restaurants. The restaurant's own website still promotes its "#1 Burger in Florida" recognition from past years and lists current hours for seven-day service, though its copyright notice reads 2025 rather than 2026, a year behind the Yelp update.
