What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?

An episode on indulgent Southern classics featured Restaurant Iris, chef Kelly English's French-Creole restaurant known for dishes blending Louisiana ingredients with French technique. The restaurant originally operated for about fifteen years in Memphis's Midtown neighborhood, on Monroe Avenue, before relocating east. According to Restaurant Iris's own website, the team made the move 'to a space that we can offer more to our guests.' According to the blog I Love Memphis (2022-10-03), the new location, in the Laurelwood Shopping Center on Poplar Avenue in East Memphis and in the former Grove Grill space, opened for dinner service the weekend of October 7-8, 2022.

A Yelp listing for the current address, 4550 Poplar Avenue, updated September 2026, shows the restaurant still operating there with an active review base. English's other Midtown concept, The Second Line, later moved next door to the Laurelwood location as well, according to a separate 2026 report.
