Best Thing I Ever Ate featured a dish from the Crystal Grill, a Greenwood, Mississippi restaurant opened in 1936 by Nick Apostle and Jim Liollio and known for Delta classics including lemon-pepper catfish and a meringue-topped mile-high pie. The restaurant occupied a 1914 building at the corner of Lamar Street and Carrollton Avenue for nearly 90 years. According to a report cited by AOL, the Crystal Grill served its last day on 2015-07-01, and owner Johnny Ballas donated the building to a local community kitchen rather than selling the business.
