What happened after Food Paradise?
The 'Best of the Midwest' episode featured Slap's BBQ, an award-winning barbecue restaurant on Central Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, known for barbecue smoked and served fresh daily in a compact, industrial-district storefront near the Kansas-Missouri state line. Slap's BBQ also ships its barbecue nationally and runs a catering operation alongside the restaurant, according to the restaurant's own site. A September 8, 2026 check of slapsbbqkc.com found the site carrying a server last-modified date of 2026-09-06, an active online ordering system, and separate menu, story, and catering pages, according to slapsbbqkc.com. The same check found the site's copyright notice reading 2025, according to slapsbbqkc.com, alongside sections for shipping, jobs, and contact information, indicating the site remains actively maintained heading into the fall.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
